I recently bought into whole clear.com internet provider. Its really not that bad considering what you can get… 4G speeds, unlimited data transmission, cheap price, a portability.
I am in a non-contract deal with a friend of mine splitting the costs between the Pick-two option. He has the home modem and I have the portable one.
I use the modem as a plug into the notebook computer or I use a portable hotspot router called a clearspot. It is a bit cumbersome since it has a physical usb dongle hanging out of it and not as friendly to handle that a regular MIFI from verizon or Overdrive from Sprint, but it gets the job done.
4g reception is a little spotty too. Wimax is the 4g technology it uses and its doesn’t work well on 1st floors, basements or any interior of buildings, but if you are by a window, it works great!
4g speeds are not really as great as it should be. I max out at 6mbs/sec which is about the same speed as my elite dsl service from sbc. Its a good service to have, but I would never use it to replace my home ISP. In terms of portable ISP, it is a good deal considering the price of other MiFi services which would provide either a limit on data usage or high cost.
Both Sprint and verizon costs $60+ for limited data usage, so clear being about 1/2 costs makes the non-versatility of 4g worth it. I think i’ll stick with it a little longer esp since Apple doesn’t offer a great data tethering plan with the iphone…

I totally LOVE gadgets, and the one I am looking forward to is the new Iphone. Whatever its going to be called. I love tmobile. I’ve been with them for many years and the service isn’t too bad, but since the new job offers 24% off ATT, the prices are more competitive to tmobile’s dirt cheap plans.
It all started with the iphone 3gs that came out last year. I bought a older 3g off ebay and unlocked it and loved it ever since. Its soo slow on tmobile edge speeds, so I cant wait to jump ship. I owed a G1 which was tmobile’s flagship phone at the time and it was miserable on tmobile 3g. So bad to the point that I enjoy surfing on their 2g speeds on the iphone!
Another reason I cant wait is that fact that I am sharing the my current Iphone with Jayden. Its sometimes difficult to actually MAKE a call with him around. I think its to the point where I am getting tired of saying NO to him when he says “Hey, give me my CELL PHONE !!!”

Wow…. It’s been a long time since I last blog!! I guess that what’s
happened when Facebook took over the world .. Haha. It is easier to
give one line status than to actually sit down and write a full entry
on what’s happening in our “exciting” life.
Updates … Updates ….
1)
We started Jayden on his potty training the past week. The 1st day was
bad — He pretty much pee anywhere and everywhere. We went through
like15 underwear in less than a few hours …. I was not looking
forward to the week of potty training. =(
But…. luckily for
us … he actually did really good after that 1st day. By the 3rd day
– he actually came up to me and say “Mommy… Or Gee Gee” (Cantonese
baby talk for “Mommy… I need to pee!”) =) Hahaha. We still need to
work on getting him to let us know when he need to go poo — but I am
pretty darn proud of him so far!!
2) We are expecting
again!!! Yeah!! EDD: 2/17/10 — Of course, all I worry about now is the possibility of delivering this little one on the worst snow storm of the century.
Haha. I hate Chicago weather. You just never know what to expect. But other
than the worry of being stuck in a blizzard — I am just really
excited that Jayden will have a sibling to play with soon!
3) Toddler Bed or Twin Bed?! Now that another baby is on his/her way … I am having this headache of how to transition Jayden to a toddler/twin bed. 1st of all, I am not sure which room to place him in … and then there is the headache of where to put the stuff in which I will need to make room for. Argh! Perhaps I need to look into those Public Storage places … Hmm…
Ok.. Time for my midnight Ramen noodles snack. Will blog more later! Promise! =)
