Have you ever had one of those days in which NOTHING works out for you??!! Well... I think I just had one of the worst. Arrgh. Everything at work was some kind of challenge --- either I was blamed for someone else's mistake, unreasonable requests (Can I have my medications now and come back to pay you later?? Are you denying me of my medications?!), and/or nonstop insurance problems (I *KNOW* I am covered!! [while insurance card clearly state Coverage Expired 2/2000!!])
And then to top everything off, some jerk ran into me after work, place his hand into my labcoat and stole $20 something dollars. =( This sucks!
WOW WOW
After shopping at Oakbrook Mall, we decided to look for something to eat.
I did my Best Buy run and drove down the block in Downer's Grove and after turning a corner guess what we saw??!!!
WOW this is big news. FRY'S is to arrive in ILLINOIS summer 2004 according to this article
Even though it is Downer's Grove, it is still closer than California. Now all the computer geeks across chicago can go and shop at one of the greatest west coast chains that exist. Haha...
AND YES, this is the actual picture of the place I took! It looks exactly the same as the ones I've been too. I hope it lasts!!! Enjoy!!!
We ate at Sangria Café a few nights ago.
Maybe I’m a pig, maybe I’m just asking for too much, or maybe we didn’t order enough. 3 guys and 3 girls order 1 appetizer, 5 tapas, 2 entrees and 4 desserts. Hmm. Sounds like enough huh??? Not really. You could see Ken scraping away at one of the entrees and Anna stopping the bus boy from taking our precious scraps away. In the meantime, I was drowning out my hunger with the sweet taste of Sangria, Frank was reminiscing about Cancun, and Michelle was dreaming about the tacos we were going to pick up after dinner.
Our waiter kept coming to our table and asking how's the texture was in the food and if we needed more sangria. I think he did this as a tactic so we would get so drunk on alcohol that we wouldn’t notice that that plate of butter was really our whitefish tapas and that there wasn’t any rice in that paella. But this did leave space in our bellies for dessert. So we ordered away...
Anna ordered a crème brule which was presented nicely in a tilda symbol (~) and Michelle ordered a brownie which took them like 3 minutes to bake since they are "freshly baked." But the dessert of the day had to go to Ken’s Goat Cheese Balls. These made your taste buds go wild. It had sooo much flavor and umph in those. If you go there, you have to order it. Then after you order it, don't ever order it again. Franks said that it was salty, sour, spicy and cheesy all at the same time. Kinda think of a white cheese ball that is sour, deep fried and sprinkled with spicy pepper. YES that’s a goat cheese ball!
Great experience that I can only describe the food as "interesting"!!
After reading Bush's new policy on overtime pay, I can't help but wonder "How come my work means less compared to lower-income workers??" According to the new policy, some professions (such as pharmacy) are NOT guarantee over-time pay for hours greater than 40 hrs/week. The policy only applies to lower-income workers.
Yes... The guarantee of OT pay for blue-collars workers is a great thing... but ... what about the rest of us?? No matter what your salary may be .... Hours put in at work are hours put in at work. Period. Salary should not be a basis of whether OT shall or shall not be paid.
Like the rest of America, white-collars and professionals are people who are trying to buy cars, put their children in college, pay their medical bills or pay the mortgage by working long hours too. So why aren't we guarantee the same labor rights? I think I moan and groan like everyone else when the alarm goes off and had drag myself off to work.

Awww.... Aren't they cute?! These are Norfolk Terriers dogs. Look like little "Benji", eh? Patrick and I are waiting to get one. For some reasons, these dogs are rare -- the litter only contain about 2 puppies at a time. We signed up with PuppyFind for updates on new puppies for sale. That will be our watch dog!!
Just wanted everyone to know, the gallery is up.
Come and see how vain we are.
Is there such a thing as being "too nice"? Do we now live in a world in which the "nice guy (or girl)" equates itself to being someone easily pushed-over or taken advantage of? In other words, does nice guy/girl = sucker??
My case in point: I worked every other weekend at a high volume Walgreens store -- so having my technicians there as they are scheduled to be are extremely important to the workflow. Recently, however, I notice that there is one particular tech that always seem to have some kind of "emergency" on the days I work -- either he (1) do not come in to work or (2) leave early from work. Well, today he decided to leave 4 hr early (he was scheduled to work until 11pm but left at 7pm due to the need of having to "pick up someone from the airport")... So... that left me short-handed for 4 hours plus an hour of "one woman show" until 10pm.
It was stated to the technician in the beginning that it was not OK by me for him to leave early (especially when he was not able to find coverage for his missing hours) -- but that seem to fall on death ear. Tech left at 7pm sharp....

We saw Kill Bill Vol #2 last night. For those who haven’t seen vol 1, go rent it. For those who have seen this and are dying to see the ending of this series you wont be disappointed. Uma Thurman returns as her role as the bride who is to revenge a failed attempt to her life which left her in a coma. The action is great, but the one thing I love about Quentin Tarentino films is the dialogue. Yes his scenes are drawn out just a bit long, the music corny, and the acting at times a bit melodramatic, but the characters are unforgettable because of their simple yet witty personalities. Even though I hate David Carradine, I wasn’t able to dislike his acting during a scene where his character analyzed the dual-life of Superman and Clark Kent during a prologue of a fight scene. This is the beauty of QT’s vision and writing.
Then again, that’s probably why he can’t do too many movies. We will get numbed of this style sooner or later. I am already bored of his style of flashbacks and flash-forwards which was introduced in Pulp fiction. And I see his style of story telling getting out dated quickly similar to the hits of M. Night Shyamalan (Signs, Sixth Sense, and Unbreakable). We love Shaymalan’s hits too, but we will eventually get sick of his story telling, and realize that his movies will all be about characters who don’t believe in ghost, aliens and superheros because they are fiction. Then the fiction becomes reality.
Anyways, the movie was good/ok. Out of a 1-5 scale I would probably give it a 3. I would probably give it a higher rating if the movie were condensed somehow to one film. The choice for splitting it among 2 vols is something I don’t agree on because it makes you spend 2x the money on 1 film. And I think that by doing this you turn away a lot of 1st time QT viewers. It was nothing too spectacular and nothing too boring about this movie. Revenge seemed easier in this volume compared to the 1st volume as it seemed to be easier to kill Daryl Hannah (who is the #1 killer) than it was to kill Lucy Lui.
Sometimes I like to watch movies 2x in theaters. This time it wouldn’t be the case. Oh well, until next time!!
This weather is too good to be stuck inside at work .... So I decided to take fate in my own hand and called in "SICK". Haha. Working EVERY Friday nights is so depressing. (sigh) Since this is my "weekend-on" -- meaning that I work this Saturday and Sunday --- I thought "Why not take today off and at least get to enjoy some of this awesome weather?!" And for all those Walgreens reader ... (cough cough) ...
Wow! The creation of this weblog was a lot more complicated than I initially thought! Not really "computer-dummie"-proof for people like me. But oh well... at least Patrick (with a great help from Ken T.) .. got this sucker going. =)
This entry is mainly for testing.
Its a learning experience!!!
