This is an interesting story
This reminds me of the moral dilemma that some pharamists undergo dispensing Plan B or Preven. These medicines stop the implantation of the egg onto the uterine wall and are often prescribed after an "accident" or an "incident". I knew of a few stories where pharmacists didn't dispense these. The moral issue being that if one took these medicines after implantation the drug may cause the embryo to detach from the uterus and die. Therefore, making it an abortion and making the pharmacist an accessory to it. It's a fine line at what is consider "alive."
But in this cause, the Kmart pharmacist should have just transferred the prescription and be done with it. Not filling the script due to personal belief/religion is one thing, but not allowing it to be transferred out is another. Then again, this patient is an IDIOT. She should have just had the MD call it into another pharmacy! But instead she waited a week before getting it (probably after calling the local news cast). Fifteen minutes of fame...

The meds may not be enough to cause an abortion, but taking hormones while pregnant aint too good either. Who knows how the kid may come out.

1. that she cannot have this child at this point of her life.
2. that if she has it, she does not want to give it someone else to raise (i.e. adoption)
3. go see a doctor and get a presciption
4. go to the pharmacy to get it filled.
im pretty sure that going thru all of these steps is pretty stressful. as a result, im not gonna make this anymore harder than it should be for this person. who knows, she might not even take the medicine.
the battles i will fight with the customers are the insurance bullshit because its bullshit and its not my fault that your insurance sux and you take 5 diazepam a day instead of once a day, impatient bastards that want their fleet enema in 1 minute because they know mr walgreesn, the drug abusers that take 10 diazepam a day instead of once a day, and the forgers that bring in a script for diazepam: take 4 tablets QID as needed with prn refills.
oh, i forgot to mention that ILMED doesnt cover colace in chinatown too!!!!
but other than that, i try not to be a bastard in the pharmacy
