DAY #1
Took us 8 hr drive to get here. Of course we kept under the speed limit!! =P
Checked in at 8pm and went out to Congee Wong for a late dinner.
$12 Canidan dollars for dinner, but we didnt have any CAN dollars as of yet, so we decided to charge. Hmmm. It was a good idea until we tried to paid and the stupid waiter said they didnt take Mastercard or Visa.
Shit!! What to do?! We asked the waiter where was the closest cash station. He said there was none. Then we told him we would just give him a $20 USD which was equal to $27 CAN, but he didnt take it. What a dumbass waiter. You figure he would have taken it and cashed it out later. So we asked another waiter who promptly told us the closest cash station was 3 blocks away. So, here I go leaving Michelle at the table and racing down to the cash station. (BTW, its on Walden/Highway 7 if you guys care.) I parked and tried to get in the bank -- of course its locked and card-accessable so no-go. But there is hope ... because it has a DRIVE-THRU!!.
I drove back and bail Michelle out of our dilemma. Just seconds away from doing the dishes!!! OHHH.. What a Day #1!!
DAY #2
Nothing big today. We got Michelle a new pair of eye glasses. If anyone wants to get new glasses there is no place like Canada to get them (hehe.. kind of like prescription drugs). She goes ahead and picks out a pair of titanium MODO glasses from the first store we walk into. And with the RX she brought from Lens Crafters we get them to do it for $144 USD with Rx Lens included. What a deal considering US jacks the price up for any titanium glass frame to around 300-400 bucks itself!! And the cool thing about it was that it was done under an hour.
And of course we bought a bunch of DVD-9's of Chinese movies. Five movies for $13 USD. This time I don't need to buy bootleg ps2 games because of SuprNova!!!
So we have concluded that Canadian people shopping at Pacific Mall are:
1. Blind
2. Cell phone fanatics
3. Hair freaks
4. Fast FOOD freaks
beacause of the many eye glasses stores, cell phone stores, hair salons, Mcdonalds and Burger King (which are 24 hrs in Toronto)!!
Day #3
Went back to Pacific Mall. Michelle was contemplating on whether or not to get a new pair of sunglasses -- she decided that she will get it at a later time (after walking around the mall in circles for the millionth time). We got MORE Chinese movies (which brings the total to 10 DVDs).
1. Sex and the Beauties
2. My Wife is 18
3. Naked Ambition
4. Itchy Heart
5. Leaving Me Loving You
6. Magic Kitchen
7. Sound of Colors
8. Good Times, Bad times
9. Bichunmoo (Korean movie)
10. Dream of a Warrior
End the day by having dessert at Demetre. We originally found this awesome dessert place in downtown Toronto .... but recently discovered that they have another shop right across our Hilton Garden Inn! The hotel is officially the best place to stay --- close to Pacific Mall and Markham Plaza, have a nearby theatre, Demetre across the street, and last but not least FREE internet service!!

Next time take me with you...I need new glasses gosh darn it!!
Posted by: Anna at May 12, 2004 3:41 PMWow, that is a really great price for glasses. Everytime I go to chinatown, something like this happens....
"oh you want ultrathin lenses? that's 100 bucks"
me: umm okay
"sure, anti-reflective lenses is another 100 bucks"
me: umm okay
"oh and you definitely need the UVA-UVB ray protecting lens coating too. That's 100 bucks"
me: and the frame is $400???
"yes so the total is $700 please"
me: aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well yeah you get the point.
Posted by: Georgiana at May 13, 2004 3:17 PMI got my pair in Pacific Mall too. Cheap there. I will go there for a haircut too if you need one :)
Posted by: ken k at May 13, 2004 4:25 PMYeah.. It is hard to find glasses under $500 in Chicago. It sux! If Canada can sell a pair for like $150 USD and STILL make a profit?? Can you imagine what the profit they are making out of us here?! Geesh!
Posted by: Michelle at May 13, 2004 7:28 PMhehe
its like prescription drugs. We gotta go across the border for cheap glasses like old people.
I dare anyone to go into their glasses place and say that,
"I can get it cheaper in Canada!"

Posted by: Patrick at May 15, 2004 12:39 AM$500?! Serious? Most I've ever paid was $200.
Posted by: ken t. at May 15, 2004 2:05 AMi paid 500 one time for calvin klien ones with the sunglass

They were titanium glass frames and it was really difficult for me to buy glasses that would fit right...
