For Valentine's Day dinner, Patrick and I decided to try a Spanish tapas resturant -- Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba. After reading some mix review of the resturant on Metromix (most of them generally good), I thought we give it a try.
We ordered the traditional red sangria, 4 tapas, and a lobster paella. The tapas was not bad -- but it wasn't great either. There was really nothing special about it. I liked the tapas at 1492 a lot better. And the lobster paella??! It was the WORST!! It was so salty that you can't even taste the lobster meat! It was just terrible! I think I only ate 2 bites out of it. The only good thing about the resturant is the atmosphere. I am no big fan of any fancy and up-tight resturant -- so Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba was perfect. You could basically be as loud as you want and no one would notice. The service was also good. Our waiter was really nice. Knowing that it was our 1st time at Ba-Ba-Reeba, he gave all of our desserts for free (we ordered 2 to try and he gave us 1 more as extra!).
I would recommend this place for a group of friends for drinks and tapas. Skip the paella!

yeah..
i was just happy to eat out with you ALONE.
We dont have many times anymore and it doesnt matter what we eat...
Even if its at Taco Bell.
yeah, restaurant foods don't really turn out to be what we expected sometimes. We went to eat at the thai restaurant around the U of C campus last weekend, we had Bangkok chicken. Its supposed to be really good at Thai 55,I had it for the first time, it didn't taste that good to me.
i like the thai resturant in evanston called COZY'S. i dont know how authentic it is but the price is really reasonable and the food is pretty good. =) i like their atmosphere there too -- really cheerful decorations. and hey! it is BYOB!! can't beat that!!
This place sounds soo familiar. I think I've been there before and if that's the place, I remember liking it. The only thing I didn't favor too much was the olives because they were so strong.
