Alien vs Predator

Where to start…. I feel that I need to warn you that my review on this movie is bias because I loved the movies Alien and Aliens and my 400 page novel is based on that time line. The BS that became Alien 3 and 4 has nothing to do with my opinion.

Sigourney Weaver’s Alien vs Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Predator. We must remember that even though this movie has an AVP title, we should treat this as a sequel and the director will not explain the prequels at all--- face huggers, chest busters and that old Arnold one-liner.

It was both disappointing and impressive…

The impressive is that we actually got to see the phenomenal "Fight"…
So the fight was long worth the wait. I remember 20th Century Fox picking to produce Alien 3 rather than pursuing AVP. Then Alien Resurrection was chosen over it. Both were waste of times that I choose not to remember. Fox used two well-known licensed characters and combined them in the ultimate battle. The basic screenplay was typical of comics and keeping it basic is always good.

The disappointing…

Lets see… My HUGE gripe is how they portrayed the main character Alexa Woods. She had some BIG boots to fit into left from Weaver’s Ripley. At least Ripley was just a space pilot thrown into the alien world, but this Woods character is supposed to be an adventurer and survivor. She didn’t even look the does the part. It seems like her character is more concerned of her hair and nails rather than surviving. Not a hair is out of place and not a drip of sweat considering she was battling the aliens for her life and the life of mankind. She didn’t walk or acted like someone who has traveled and climbed freestyle over all the biggest mountains on the Earth.

Although Oscar Winning H.R. Giger’s Alien was good, the Predator design seemed to be a bit out of proportion. Large and bulky, they were not the type of predator that attacked Arnold or Danny Glover in the Predator series.

The BIGGEST gripe is the choice the director chose to make the movie PG-13… none of the movies out of both series were PG-13. I remember being terrified after watching Alien when I was 6… I don’t think it affected ME!

But seriously, the choice keeping the gore out was disappointing. It went against the 3 big D’s. Dismemberment, Decapitation and Disembowelment. We didn’t get to see that GOOD violence and it made me feel that truly it was not a Aliens/Predator movie…

Out of 5, I give this movie 3 stars. It would have gotten a higher rating if the D’s were there and if Woods character decided to sweat.
Keep it R please…

three stars?
considering the build up of the legacy of alien(s) and predator(s) series, you'd give this movie no more than 2 stars. then again aliens 3 and 4 kinda suxed and this years movies kinda suxed.

i think the best movie i saw this year was...spiderman2.

I warned you it was a bit bias!

Entertaining but confusing b/c I didn't see Alien 1, 2, 3, etc... The movie assume too much.

Just saw it. I didn't like idea of the Predator getting "help" in the end...
