I just finished watching this new Chinese romantic movie starring Leon Lai and Faye Wong ... and the only thing that came to my mind at the end of the movie was "HUH?!?!" Besides the beautiful scenery of Shanghai and the nice music soundtrack, the movie lacked substance. For a movie that was suppose to be romantic... it didn't touch my heart at all. The love between Leon and Faye's character was never build up ... the romance start, end, and began again very abruptly. I was not able to relate to either character. In addition, the lack of conversation (almost none) in the movie was super annoying. By the end of the 1st hour, I was still looking for the main plot of the story.
If you never been to Shanghai and want some spectular view on the city... then grab yourself some popcorn and Pepsi. If you want a romantic movie (or just a movie with SOME kind of conversational piece) ... move on!

this is why I've stop watching Chinese movies. They mostly suck anyway.
Yeah.I'm not a huge fan of Chinese movie too (but it got subtitles.. so Patrick get to watch along). Another sucky recent movie is Naked Ambition with Louis Koo. The movie plot seem like an excuse to show naked women and a lot of sex scene. No point to the entire story.
I suppose the story line fits the title of the movie. hahaha
