Too Nice?

Is there such a thing as being "too nice"? Do we now live in a world in which the "nice guy (or girl)" equates itself to being someone easily pushed-over or taken advantage of? In other words, does nice guy/girl = sucker??

My case in point: I worked every other weekend at a high volume Walgreens store -- so having my technicians there as they are scheduled to be are extremely important to the workflow. Recently, however, I notice that there is one particular tech that always seem to have some kind of "emergency" on the days I work -- either he (1) do not come in to work or (2) leave early from work. Well, today he decided to leave 4 hr early (he was scheduled to work until 11pm but left at 7pm due to the need of having to "pick up someone from the airport")... So... that left me short-handed for 4 hours plus an hour of "one woman show" until 10pm.

It was stated to the technician in the beginning that it was not OK by me for him to leave early (especially when he was not able to find coverage for his missing hours) -- but that seem to fall on death ear. Tech left at 7pm sharp....

can't you tell your boss?

I should had written him up personally -- but oh well! I will just call and let the pharmacy manager know tomorrow. And the nerve of him coming in today for work and asked "Was it bad last night?" HELL YEAH!

You are weak!!!!! Unleash your venom! Become evil personified! Being nice to nice people is one thing. It's always rewarding to do that. But being nice to mean ol ass knockers with brains made out of petrified wood is another story. They don't deserve it!! I mean, of course when you intially meet them, its always polite to be nice. But if they continue to be rat bastards, show them no mercy. They will continue to carry on their wicked ways until they know they can be stopped. Bring them down Michelle!!

sorry to hear about this.. next time bug the managers to help you out so in turn, they give the tech a "nice" talk.

Unfortunately, at some Walgreens store, the store manager are not as "helpful" -- I requested help from the manager and got a stiff response of "We are busy up front too!" =(

I will give him the angrykid's look and raise HELL.

Nice guy finish last usually.

Hey, Michelle is evil enough!! Stop teaching her to do more evil...just kidding :P

I know people can be lazy sometimes or all the times, but what can you do? I always have trouble w/ my lazy techs too...in this case, I think I'm a "nice girl" also..sigh..

i would tell that person if he any plans on leaving early then clock out and go home. tell the tech that u will not stand for this and your will not work here during my watch at your convenience. u gonna have to suck it up in terms of work load but the tech will lose out in the paycheck. u will get that person's attention if u affect his cash flow. if the pharmacy manager doesnt help fix it, then tell him that i will not be held responsible for what happens in the pharmacy when short handed. tell your pharmacy supervisor about it and call your union rep about this. this will not make u a popular pharmacist but u have to demand respect.
